Mais le coup d&rsquo;envoi pour implanter une grande vari\u00e9t\u00e9 d&rsquo;esp\u00e8ces v\u00e9g\u00e9tales, c&rsquo;est le mois de mars. Seules devront attendre des plantes d&rsquo;origine exotique amatrices d&rsquo;une temp\u00e9rature nettement plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e et plus stable, comme les tomates, sud-am\u00e9ricaines, les courgettes, d&rsquo;Am\u00e9rique centrale, ou les aubergines, en provenance de l&rsquo;Inde. La carotte, dont les jeunes pousses sont tellement fines qu&rsquo;il est impossible de la repiquer, proviendrait d&rsquo;Asie mineure et d&rsquo;Asie centrale, Afghanistan, Iran, Irak, peut-\u00eatre aussi de Turquie. Les graines minuscules sont difficiles \u00e0 semer de fa\u00e7on espac\u00e9e, il faudra donc \u00ab\u00a0\u00e9claircir\u00a0\u00bb (arracher une partie des pousses) pour permettre \u00e0 celles qui restent de cro\u00eetre correctement. Si les semis pr\u00e9par\u00e9s \u00e0 domicile ont atteint une taille suffisante, ils sont transplant\u00e9s sur l&rsquo;espace commun, \u00e9ventuellement \u00e0 l&rsquo;abri de grandes bouteilles d\u00e9coup\u00e9es pour \u00e9viter d&rsquo;\u00eatre imm\u00e9diatement d\u00e9vor\u00e9s par les limaces.
